The most common call I get is about what to do with old churches and synagogues. When boilers break and parish halls flood, clergy everywhere remember: They didn’t teach us this in seminary. Here’s what I’ve learned about dealing with big, old church buildings.
I’m curating a free, online resource to compile an intro to organizations and consultants already working to support communities like yours. Still have questions after this? Let’s schedule a call.
All photos are mine unless otherwise indicated.
L to R: me at home, the Duomo di Siena in Siena, Italy, part of my home altar.

You know how you get a song stuck in your head and it just repeats and wakes you up until it works its way out? Well, I’ve had this song stuck in my soul for about four years now. The Bengsons’ Hymn 5from Sovereignty Hymns repeats, over and over:
I need a new ritual. I need a new prayer.
For four years, I’ve been figuring out a way toward making new rituals and new prayers and making them with and for the collective. Sacred Home Altars is but one attempt at making a new ritual and a new prayer. And, of course, we know that all the new is intimately linked to the ancient. Join me in some new, ancient ways and practices.

Vocationally, I am an erstwhile pastor, occasional podcaster, pulpit supplier, freelance writer, teacher and preacher, consultant and guide. Perhaps you’re here to find me in one of those roles.
For faith leaders & communities: I welcome the opportunity to work with you, particularly coaching and guiding clergy through the processes of caring for aging buildings. And, occasionally, call on me to preach, lead a retreat, offer a training.
For the mystically curious: explore a new offering for the sacred ordinary. Sacred Home Altars is a project to support your own grounding and unfolding.
